Cookie Policy

Last updated: 11 August 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how MediaIndex.eu uses cookies and similar browser technologies.

Information about the processing of personal data is available in our Privacy Policy.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on a computer, smartphone or other device when a website is visited. They allow a website to operate correctly, remember selected settings and provide certain security, functional, analytical or advertising features.

MediaIndex may also use browser storage, such as local storage. Browser storage performs a similar function but is stored directly in the visitor’s browser.

2. Technologies used by MediaIndex

Cookie consent

MediaIndex uses the mieu_cookie_consent cookie to remember the visitor’s cookie choices and the version of the consent notice that was accepted or rejected.

This is a strictly necessary first-party cookie. It is normally stored for up to 180 days unless it is deleted earlier through the browser or replaced after the Cookie Policy is updated.

Saved country

When a visitor clicks the lock icon next to a country, MediaIndex stores the selected country in the browser under the name mi_home_country.

This information is stored in local storage and allows MediaIndex to open the selected country edition automatically during future visits. It is created only after the visitor actively selects a default country.

The saved country remains in the browser until another country is selected or the browser storage is cleared.

WordPress technical cookies

WordPress may use strictly necessary session and security cookies for website administration, authentication and protection against unauthorised access.

Public visitors do not need to create an account or log in to use MediaIndex.

Cloudflare security technologies

MediaIndex uses Cloudflare Turnstile to protect submission forms from spam, automated requests and abuse.

Cloudflare may process technical information about the browser, device, IP address and interaction with the security check. Depending on the Cloudflare configuration and the type of security challenge, Cloudflare may also use strictly necessary cookies or similar browser technologies.

More information is available in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy and the Cloudflare Cookie Policy.

3. Cookie categories

Strictly necessary

These cookies and storage technologies are required for website security, cookie-consent management and functions specifically requested by the visitor. They cannot be disabled through the MediaIndex cookie settings.

Functional

Functional storage remembers choices made by the visitor, including the country saved as the default MediaIndex edition.

Analytics

Analytics cookies may be used to understand general website usage, page visits and technical performance. Analytics services are activated only when they are configured on MediaIndex and the required consent has been provided.

Marketing

Marketing cookies may be used to display advertising, measure advertising performance and understand interactions with advertisements. Marketing services are activated only when they are configured on MediaIndex and the required consent has been provided.

4. Google services

MediaIndex may use Google services, including Google Analytics, Google Ads and Google AdSense, when these services are enabled on the website.

Google may receive technical information, including the visitor’s IP address, browser and device information, the URL of the visited page and information about interactions with advertisements or website content.

Depending on the enabled Google service, cookies and browser identifiers may include _ga, _gid, _gat, _gcl_au, IDE and test_cookie.

Optional Google analytics and advertising technologies are activated only after the visitor has provided the required consent. The presence of these identifiers in this Cookie Policy does not mean that all Google services are currently active on MediaIndex.

More information about Google’s processing of information is available in the Google Privacy Policy.

5. Other optional third-party services

MediaIndex may use other analytics, advertising or social media services when they are enabled on the website.

Depending on the enabled service, browser identifiers may include _fbp, _fbc and other cookies created by the relevant provider.

The inclusion of these identifiers in the consent system does not mean that the corresponding services are currently active. Such cookies are created only if the relevant service is installed, enabled and permitted by the visitor’s consent where consent is required.

The purpose and duration of third-party cookies are determined by the provider responsible for the relevant service.

6. Managing cookie choices

When visiting MediaIndex, visitors can accept optional cookies, reject them or select individual cookie categories.

Cookie choices can be changed at any time by clicking the Cookie settings button displayed on the website.

Strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled through the MediaIndex cookie settings because they are required for website security and essential functionality.

Withdrawal of consent does not affect processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn.

7. Browser settings

Cookies and local storage can also be viewed, blocked or deleted through the browser settings.

Deleting browser data may remove the saved country, reset cookie preferences and require the visitor to select these settings again.

Blocking all cookies may affect certain website security and functional features.

8. External websites

MediaIndex headlines link directly to publications on external media websites. Those websites may use their own cookies and similar technologies.

MediaIndex does not control cookies created after a visitor opens an external website. Visitors should review the cookie and privacy policies of the relevant publisher.

9. Changes to this Cookie Policy

MediaIndex may update this Cookie Policy when its services, cookie settings, technologies or legal obligations change.

The current version and its latest update date are published on this page.
