U2 release new Pogues cover for major Shane MacGowan tribute album
U2 have released their own version of The Pogues’ Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah as one of the key new recordings for the large-scale tribute album 20th Century Paddy – The Songs of Shane MacGowan. U2 deliberately chose something other than one of MacGowan’s obvious ballads or his most commercially famous songs. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah is a fast, direct and unusually energetic Pogues recording, originally released as a single in December 1988.
