About MediaIndex

MediaIndex.eu is an independent European information platform developed and operated by Media IEU, SIA. It brings national news sources, original MediaIndex publications and useful media directories together in one clear and accessible space.

Europe consists of dozens of countries, languages and separate information environments. Important events, publications and communities often remain inside national or local media spaces. MediaIndex makes them easier to discover without removing their national identity or replacing the original source.

What MediaIndex includes

News Index brings together headlines from media sources across European countries. Readers can follow fresh publications, view the stories receiving the most attention and open every article directly on the original publisher’s website.

MediaIndex Publications provides original news summaries, reports, commentary and editorial materials published under the editorial control of Media IEU, SIA. These publications may explain, summarise or provide context for events reported by multiple sources.

FB Group Directory helps users find Facebook groups by country, city and category. Every listing leads directly to the relevant Facebook group.

Country-based navigation

MediaIndex is one European platform with separate news and directory views for each country. Visitors can select the country that matters to them and save it as their main country for future visits.

This structure makes it possible to explore local information while remaining connected to the wider European media environment.

How popularity is determined

MediaIndex does not use likes, reactions or estimates taken from external platforms. Popularity is determined by real activity generated by MediaIndex visitors.

In the News Index, the “Most read” ranking reflects the attention generated by headlines within MediaIndex during the selected period. In the FB Group Directory, groups are ranked according to the number of transitions from the directory to their Facebook pages.

These figures represent activity within MediaIndex and do not claim to show the total audience of a publication, website or Facebook group across the internet.

Supporting original sources

MediaIndex does not replace newspapers, news websites, independent publishers or online communities. News Index headlines lead directly to the original articles, while directory listings lead directly to the relevant groups or platforms.

MediaIndex does not copy or republish full third-party articles. It may publish its own summaries, commentary and original editorial materials while identifying the relevant source or directing readers to the appropriate country section of the News Index.

Third-party publishers and group administrators remain responsible for their own content, editorial positions and accuracy. Media IEU, SIA is responsible for publications released directly by MediaIndex.

Paid placement and rankings

Publishers can apply to add their websites and RSS feeds to the News Index. Facebook group administrators can apply to include their groups in the FB Group Directory.

Every submitted website, feed or group must complete the applicable verification process and pass moderation before payment is requested.

Payment provides inclusion for the selected period. It does not purchase a higher position in the ranking. Rankings are determined by actual activity generated by visitors.

MediaIndex may also add, update, suspend or remove sources and directory listings at its own editorial discretion.

Independent by design

MediaIndex is not a political organisation and does not represent any government, political party, media group, social platform or national interest.

MediaIndex independently determines the structure of the platform, the sources included in its indexes and the materials published under the MediaIndex name.

Our purpose

Our purpose is to make the European information environment easier to navigate. MediaIndex connects countries, media sources, original publications and online communities while preserving the identity of every source and providing direct access to the wider European information environment.
