Lisbon Brings Robbie Williams, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill and Deftones Together for Three Nights

From August 28 to 30, Lisbon becomes another major musical destination in Europe. MEO Kalorama 2026 takes over Parque da Bela Vista for three days with a programme that brings together several generations of artists and a wide range of genres. Across the same festival site, audiences will see Robbie Williams, Grace Jones, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, Deftones, Interpol, Turnstile, Clipse, Black Star, Vince Staples and many more. For the final days of August, that lineup makes Lisbon one of the busiest live-music destinations in Europe. The first day, August 28, is led by Robbie Williams. Grace Jones, Interpol, MARO and Anna von Hausswolff are also on the programme. The combination of Robbie Williams and Grace Jones already feels like a meeting between two very different eras of major pop culture, while Interpol add a completely different alternative dimension to the night. Portuguese singer MARO strengthens the local side of the lineup, so the opening day is not built around one genre but around several very different audiences. On August 29, the festival changes direction dramatically. The main event becomes a performance by Ms. Lauryn Hill with special guests Wyclef Jean, YG Marley and Zion. Black Star, featuring Yasiin Bey and Talib Kweli, are also scheduled, alongside Vince Staples and Ravyn Lenae. The final day on August 30 changes the atmosphere again, with Deftones, Turnstile, Clipse, Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist and Peaches.

Reading & Leeds Bring a New Generation of British Music Dynasties to the Stage

Reading & Leeds are providing another story this year that goes far beyond the usual festival schedule. Several young artists whose family names are already famous because of their parents are appearing across the two British festival sites at the same time. Gene Gallagher, the son of Liam Gallagher, is performing with his band Villanelle, while Moses Martin, the son of Chris Martin, appears with People I’ve Met. Violet Grohl, the daughter of Dave Grohl, and Cruz Beckham are also on the programme. For a single festival weekend, such a concentration of second-generation performers already looks less like coincidence and more like a distinct cultural moment. The scheduling makes the story even more striking. Villanelle and People I’ve Met are placed on the same stage only around two hours apart. That means the son of one of Oasis’s defining figures and the son of Coldplay’s frontman effectively become part of the same concert block. Two young musicians raised inside very different eras of British music are now stepping in front of a festival audience that knows the Gallagher and Martin names extremely well, but is being asked to judge the new projects rather than their parents.Reading & Leeds have always been festivals where young bands can move from promising newcomers to artists followed by a much larger British audience. That gives the appearances of Gene Gallagher, Moses Martin, Violet Grohl and Cruz Beckham particular significance.

Reading and Leeds Open Britain’s Biggest Late-Summer Festival Weekend at the Same Time

Today, August 27, Reading Festival and Leeds Festival begin simultaneously in the United Kingdom, once again operating as two festivals that function as one large musical event across two cities. This year’s programme runs until August 30 and brings together artists from pop, rap, alternative rock, electronic music and the newer British scene. Among the biggest names are Charli XCX, Florence + The Machine, RAYE, Dave, Fontaines D.C., Skepta, Chase & Status, Kneecap, Loyle Carner, Role Model and many more performers. The defining feature of Reading & Leeds remains the same: the two festivals use a mirrored schedule. The same artist performs on different days at the two sites, allowing most of the major names to appear in both Reading and Leeds. Charli XCX, for example, performs at Reading on Friday before moving to Leeds on Saturday. Florence + The Machine start in Leeds on Friday and then appear at Reading on Sunday. Dave follows the opposite route, playing Reading on Saturday before closing his festival weekend in Leeds on Sunday. The scale of interest is already clear before the biggest evening performances begin. All camping tickets for Reading have sold out, showing that a large part of the audience is coming for the full four-day festival experience rather than for one individual concert. Once again, Reading & Leeds are becoming more than two parallel music sites.

Ariana Grande Turns London Into the Only European Capital of Her World Tour

Ariana Grande is continuing one of the most notable concert runs of the summer, performing ten shows at The O2 in London between August 15 and September 1. For European audiences, this residency has particular importance because the British capital is the only European stop on the Eternal Sunshine Tour. After a six-year break from major touring, demand for Grande’s return proved so strong that the original five-show schedule was effectively doubled, with five additional dates added.Today, August 27, Ariana Grande returns to The O2 stage, and the concert is officially listed by the venue as sold out. The shows on August 28, August 31 and the final date on September 1 are also marked as sold out. The level of demand is especially significant because Grande has not undertaken a full major concert tour since the Sweetener World Tour, which ended in 2019 and attracted more than 1.3 million spectators worldwide. The London run has already produced its own major moments beyond the standard concert programme. On August 16, Cynthia Erivo made a surprise appearance on stage, becoming one of the most discussed moments of the opening part of the residency. Their joint appearance drew particular attention following Grande and Erivo’s work together on Wicked. As a result, the ten nights at The O2 are gradually becoming more than just a stop on a global tour and instead look like a separate major chapter in Ariana Grande’s return to large-scale live performance.

Rock en Seine Brings One of Late Summer’s Strongest Music Lineups to Paris

Paris has once again become one of Europe’s main music capitals in the final days of August. Rock en Seine 2026 opened on August 26 at Domaine National de Saint-Cloud, and this year’s edition has assembled such a dense lineup that almost every day can be treated as a major event in its own right. The programme brings together contemporary pop, alternative rock, post-punk, indie, heavier music and several generations of artists with established international audiences.Tyler, The Creator opened the festival, while Lorde becomes the main name on August 27. Djo, the music project of Joe Keery, performs on the main stage before her. The following day is built almost entirely around major rock acts, with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Black Keys, Franz Ferdinand, Wet Leg, Biffy Clyro, Sparks and Wilco all appearing. That combination makes Rock en Seine attractive not only to French audiences but also to visitors travelling to Paris from elsewhere in Europe. The programme becomes noticeably heavier on August 29 with Deftones, Turnstile, Amyl & The Sniffers and Clipse, while the final day on August 30 will be headlined by The Cure. Interpol, Mogwai, Slowdive and Wolf Alice will also perform that day. Three-day and four-day passes have already sold out, underlining the scale of interest before the festival has even reached its final stretch. Within Europe’s summer concert calendar, Rock en Seine has become one of the most concentrated major music events of late August.

Dua Lipa says marriage to Callum Turner has completely changed her music

Dua Lipa no longer plans to draw inspiration exclusively from broken relationships and emotional disasters. The singer has revealed that marrying British actor Callum Turner changed her understanding of love — and is now transforming the material she intends to explore in her future songs. In the past, some of her strongest emotions emerged after painful breakups. According to the singer, emotional instability provided a clear dramatic structure: pain, disappointment, liberation and the eventual recovery of confidence.Much of pop music is built around that emotional contrast. Happy relationships can be considerably more difficult for a songwriter to describe. They contain fewer explosive conflicts but far more subtle moments that must be recognised and transformed into music.Dua Lipa now says she is interested in writing not about relationships collapsing, but about what happens after genuine intimacy appears. She has become increasingly fascinated by the quieter sides of love: trust, daily support, emotional security and the ability of two busy people to remain connected. For the singer, this represents new creative territory. It is not simply a matter of replacing sad songs with cheerful ones. Stable relationships require a different language and a more attentive examination of emotions because the drama can no longer be based entirely on betrayal and separation.Major changes in Dua Lipa’s personal life occurred relatively quickly.

Taylor Sheridan accused of stealing the idea for Yellowstone after rejecting a similar project

Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan has become the subject of a major copyright lawsuit. Screenwriter Lauren Salkin alleges that important elements of the celebrated television franchise were taken from her project Sovereign Nation, which she submitted to Sheridan’s representatives shortly before Yellowstone entered development. The copyright infringement lawsuit was filed on August 21 in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. She was subsequently informed that Sheridan was unavailable to consider new television projects.Paramount began developing Yellowstone within months. The series premiered on June 20, 2018.Yellowstone follows the Dutton family, owners of an enormous ranch in Montana.

Ricky Martin returns to Spanish-language cinema after more than 30 years

Ricky Martin has unexpectedly joined the cast of Hombre al Agua, the new film from Mexican actor and director Gael García Bernal. The Puerto Rican singer’s involvement was revealed on August 24 with the release of the film’s first international trailer. Martin not only appears on screen but has also joined the project as an executive producer. It is his first fully Spanish-language role since his early work in the 1990s. However, this is not a return to acting after a long absence: Martin has continued appearing on screen in recent years, primarily in English-language American television productions. In Hombre al Agua, Martin plays Roby, an actor hired to portray the film’s central character, Camilo, in a biographical movie about his life. The role is relatively small and required only one day of filming. Nevertheless, Martin’s character forms an important part of the film’s satirical structure: a real person’s complicated life is transformed into a convenient public legend and an attractive product for an audience.Gael García Bernal said he had imagined Ricky Martin as Roby from the beginning. The idea seemed so unlikely, however, that the director kept the singer’s name to himself for most of the film’s development.Shortly before production began, Bernal managed to obtain Martin’s telephone number and called him personally. The director had barely started explaining the project when Martin agreed to participate and said he was prepared to do whatever was needed.
